How are you? I hope you are doing well and keep the spirit up!

As you can see in the title, today we will discuss about descriptive text.

Before we know more about descriptive text, we must know the definition and purpose of descriptive text first.

Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. The purpose of the descriptive text is clear, that is to describe, represent or reveal a person or an object, either abstract or concrete.

After knowing the definition and purpose, the descriptive text also has a structure. 

What is the structure?

1. Identification 

Contains about the introduction of a person, place, animal, or object will be described.)

2. Description

Contains a description of something such as animal, things, place, or person by describing its features, forms, colors, or anything related to what the writer describes.

The descriptive text has several social functions including to boast, to sell, to recognize, and identify. There are three things that you have to know, they are communicative purposes, generic structure, and language features.
